Not the truth

14.12.2012 | Irish Republican News, An Phoblacht, Press Association

Cameron admits collusion, but denies conspiracy in the murder of Belfast solicitor Pat Finucane. His widow has dismissed the report into Pat Finucanes death by Sir Desmond de Silva as "a sham... a whitewash... a confidence trick", telling a press conference: "This report is not the truth."

The British Prime Minister has admitted the assassination of Pat Finucane was "an appalling crime" which involved three state agents, the RUC police and the British Army, but he has stopped short of ordering a public inquiry. In a statement to the Westminster parliament this afternoon Mr Cameron said there had been "shocking" levels of state collusion read more >>

Sinn Féin demands release of Pádraic Wilson – Charges 'politically motivated'

4.11.2012 | An Phoblacht

It is my firm view that these charges are politically motivated and driven by an old agenda within the PSNI fighting against policing change. Those behind this agenda need to be removed from policing before they inflict further damage on the peace process." Gerry Kelly

THE remanding in custody in Belfast today of Pádraic Wilson on a charge of IRA membership and organising meetings has been described by Sinn Féin’s Policing & Justice spokesperson as “bizarre” read more >>

Maghaberry prison warder shot dead

1.11.2012 | Irish Republican News

The "Northern Ireland Office", which is run by the British state and which still holds the power in many areas of life in the North of Ireland, especially in everything related to "national security" or "terrorism", has been using massive human right violations against against some activists of the so called Irish Republican dissidents, several micro groups who work against the peace process. The ongoing internment of Marion Price is an example of this British policy. Prison conditions and human rights violations against prisoners have also been a matter of concern. A report which has been conducted recently still needs to be acted upon.

Against this background the Irish Republican News reports today the killing of a prison warder: read more >>

25.9.2012 | John Hedges & Mark Moloney (An Phoblacht, 18.9.2012)

“The IRA was not the creation of any Dublin government,” the Sinn Féin president said.

The unionist motion argued that the 26-County state failed to clamp down on IRA activity and was somehow responsible for its regeneration. read more >>

Dissident groups cannot achieve united Ireland

Speaking today Mr Kelly said:

“The coming together of several dissident groups is not surprising given the fractious nature of those who are behind such groupings. They have over the past number of years come and gone, split and reformed on an ongoing basis. read more >>

Fans of the Basque futball club Athletic Bilbao started a campaign for the truth about the death of Iñigo Cabacas and the dismissal of the Home Secretary of the Basque Autonomous Community Rodolfo Ares. We support their call:

What started as a celebration of a football victory, ended with tears and chaos when the Ertzaintza, the Basque police force, interrupted pushing the situation out of control. Martin McGuinness Easter Sunday address 2012 – Drumboe, Co. Donegal:

"I thank the Republicans of County Donegal for the opportunity to address you on this the 96th anniversary of the Easter Rising of 1916. It is a privilege to join with you as we recall the Proclamation of the Irish Republic and pay tribute to all those who have given their lives in the cause of Irish freedom. We make no distinction between the men and women of 1916 and the men and women of 1981. We honour equally the Republicans who fell in the years of struggle 1916 to 1923 and those who gave their lives in our own era since 1969. read more >>

Bloody Sunday Families: no further annual march

18.1.2012 |

"The Bloody Sunday families, who are the moral authority on Bloody Sunday issues, are not organising or supporting a march in January 2012. This is in line with their decision in January 2011 that, given that ...their long campaign had been successfully concluded, there would be no further annual marches, though the annual commemoration would continue in all other respects. This was supported by the people of Derry at the last march in January 2011. We ask those who have supported us in the past to now give their active support, as we do, to others still fighting their campaigns for justice by, for instance, supporting the Ballymurphy families’ march in August. Others may organise a march on Sunday 29 January, but we have no involvement in that and it is not led by the Bloody Sunday families.”
